EMT & MICT Description

Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for emergency care of patients under the authority of Winfield Area MES through the direction of policy and protocol which are approved by the Cowley County Medical Society and the administrative authority of Winfield. Authorized technicians follow established standards, procedures, practices, and give patient care to their level of Kansas certification.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control policy.
  2. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with Training Coordinator as required and improves emergency care methods to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  3. Accurately completes records of patient care, activities and incident reports.
  4. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient physical and emotions comfort.
  5. Creates all required reports, records, statistics, etc., as specified in EMS policy and procedure manual or Director/Training Coordinator request.
  6. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  7. Attends meetings as required.
  8. Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
  9. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee and interdepartmental relations.
  10. Maintains designated stock of supplies on assigned unit and ensures proper functioning of equipment. Reports equipment failure or dysfunction, repair, or maintenance, or supply needs in writing to administration.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by EMS Director or Training Coordinator.

Position Qualifications

  1. Minimum Education-  High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum Experience-  Sufficient previous clinical experience in all aspects of emergency medical care as determined by EMS Director.
  3. Required Certification-  Current certification and or licensure requirements. Current valid KS drivers license.
